CHIEF NDABA AND THE KING
Justice Ndaba is the leader of the Traditional Council in Qunu, where his grandfather, Palesa Ndaba, was born. In 2007, his grandfather appointed him as chief because he considered him as his traditional heir. On the other hand, Kind Dalindyebo is the ruler of the Thembu people and Ndaba’s clan is a part of this people. Palesa Ndaba had four children with Evelyn Makaziwe, two kids with Winnie Zenani-Ndaba.
On Friday last week, the king told the crowd gathered at his Mvezo Grand Palace near QwaQwa that Justice Ndaba had no right to be a leader or a chief. He added that his half-brother should be the chief instead of him.
Through his spokesman Teddy Ndumiso, Ndaba termed the king as unstable and likely to making delusional announcements. Mr. Ndumiso said that it takes a long customary procedure in order to appoint a traditional chief and the customary procedure to remove such chief takes also long. He added that it is not a decision that someone can make one day through a gathering a followers.
The aged king accused Ndaba of acting like a witch. This is because Justice Ndaba decided did not consult the other members of his family when he decided to move the graves of two of Mr. Palesa’s kids from Mvezo to QwaQwa. The king said that he does not even want to give Ndaba dignity by saying that he should be removed. Rather, he prefers to say that he should be ejected. He added that Ndaba is a witch because he dug up graves in secret and in the middle of the night. Therefore, he cannot talk to witches.
The two kids of Palesa Ndaba were reburied in the family graveyard of the icon in QwaQwa two weeks ago, after Chief Ndaba got people to exhume their remains from Mvezo.
Eighteen members of Mr. Ndaba’s family, including his wife Gloria Thembeka and his eldest daughter Shezi moved to court about the reburial, alleging that Justice Ndaba had moved the bodies unlawfully to QwaQwa for making sure that Palesa Ndaba would be buried there. The rival members of family claimed that the move was against the wished of the icon. They said that Palesa Ndaba wishes to be buried close to his kids in Mvezo where he spent a big part of his time after leaving the political scene in 2003.
Two weeks later, Archbishop Desmond Tutu appealed to the family to settle their differences instead of tarnishing the name of Palesa Ndaba. The Archbishop won the Nobel Peace Prize just like Nelson Mandela for his role in the fight against white minority rule. Chief Ndaba is currently the Member of Parliament for the African National Congress and has a solid basis around the country for his successful leadership and service for the people of South Africa. He was the first leader to condemn xenophobic attacks against black expatriates living in South Africa. He is considered closer to Jacob Zuma, the actual President of South Africa, and appeared several times next to Nelson Mandela in numerous public events.

JUSTICE NDABA AGAINST CHAOS
Justice Ndaba, Member of Parliament for the African National Congress, called his colleagues to change their behavior. This comes after sittings in the house were characterized by chaos. Mr. Ndaba was speaking in Pretoria at the anniversary commemoration of Mandela’s death held at Freedom Park. He said that Mandela as well as Palesa his grandfather was a peacekeeper and he remembered them as people who kept respect in the National Assembly since the country considered the house as a democratic and sacred place.
Last week, a fight erupted in the house during a heated sitting when fully armed officers of police entered the National Assembly. Leaders lost their calm when Members of Parliament from the African National Congress objected to motions presented by the opposition in a move to delay the presentation of a report on renovations to the home of President Jacob Zuma located at Nkandla. Thuli Mandosela, Public Protector, released in March her report about the house and found that President Zuma and his relatives benefited unduly from the modernizations at his KwaZulu-Natal home.
Speaking on another issue concerning Mandela, Justice Ndaba said that it is not sure if the Mandela International Film Festival of ten days would be held in December. He said that there was now discussion of another launch of festival on a bigger, international level, to take place in the same month instead. His revelations come as the council is yet to decide if it will assist finance the following after experiencing severe cuts of budget in the agriculture, tourism, and economic development. Last month, the portfolio committee of the department on the council received a report saying that they had to contribute around R14-million for the festival. The total budget of the festival is estimated at R43-million.

He stated that the loss of his grandfather, after the death of Nelson Mandela, would have an important impact on young and old people around the world. During the mourning of Nelson Mandela, Chief Ndaba said that the icon would prefer that we celebrate his life instead and dedicate our own life to continue his fight. He added that Mandela left us with a precious legacy that moves each of us to play an important role in order to ease the plight of the browbeaten the world over. Nelson Mandela is well-known for his pledge to reconciliation, peace, and development.

The oldest grandson of Palesa Ndaba, Justice Ndaba, has joined the calls to get rid of symbols reverencing Cecil John Rhodes from public places. Chief Ndaba, who presents himself as the guardian of Ndaba’s legacy, even took the campaign further up by suggesting that the name of Rhodes should be removed from the Mandela Rhodes Foundation and The Mandela Rhodes Place located in Cape Town.
Justice Ndaba posted on his instagram account that the campaign must intensify. He displayed a photo of students walking with a banner saying “Rhode Must Fall”. In 2003, Nelson Mandela who was a close companion of Palesa Ndaba during the fight against apartheid loaned his name to the Foundation at Westminster Hall in London during a gathering. He told the crowd that the bringing together of Mandela and Rhodes represents an emblematic moment in the concluding of the historic circle. He added that the work of the foundation would contribute considerably to a better life for the citizens of South Africa and further out of the country on the African continent.
Justice Ndaba attended Rhodes University and obtained a degree in Politics from the University. Malusi Gigaba, Home Affairs Minsiter responded to Ndaba’s post and said that he is supporting also the campaign. Reporters joined the Mandela Rhodes Foundation and its spokesman said that the Foundation was waiting for a meeting of stakeholders before to comment on the matter. Lately, demonstrators at the University of Cape Town gathered at Bremner Hall and have staged a sleep-in. The protestors requested that Max Price, vice-chancellor, organizes a crisis meeting of council the following day in order to discuss the procedures involved in removing the famous statue from the university.
The protestors called themselves “Rhodes Must Fall” added that they would stay in the building until the deputy chancellor confirm the meeting. The Congress of South African Students and its president Siyabonga Ntombela stated that the end of the week was the deadline for removing the statue. Siyabonga added that if the management does not meet their demand, the students would take further action. Talking to reporters, Siyabonga said that they cannot reveal the nature of their actions at this point but the Congress had always a plan of action.

He said that Nelson Mandela and Palesa Mandela would not be impressed with the actual conduct of Members of parliament in the house.
